Jesus lives forever, raised from the dead: Romans 6:9-10

Empty Tomb 3 Crosses

Romans 6:9-10 esv

We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.  For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.”

Jesus’ resurrection is like no other resurrection in history. Lazarus, whom Jesus raised from the dead after 4 days dead, died again.  Jairus’ daughter, raised from the dead, died again. ALL resurrected people, EXCEPT Jesus, have died again.

Death comes because of sin. Jesus did not die for His own sins, and so death could not hold him.  And it can never catch Him again, as He has no sins to pay for any more, His or anyone else’s. He has already paid for the sins of the world.  Hallelujah.

And so Jesus lives on in heaven at His Father’s right hand.

We see Jesus’ continuing life in Hebrews 6:21b-25 esv:

““The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest forever.’” This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant. The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.”

Jesus cannot fail us. He lives forever.
