Jesus is the healer. He is the one who frees from demons.
But He is also the proclaimer of good news. Good news that brings eternal life to all who connect to Jesus in faith.
And the eternal life he brings is of greater worth than all physical healing now. Jesus’ willingness to leave a place where his fame is spreading and people are looking for him speaks to a greater hope he wants people to have. Like the people in John 6:25-29 who were looking for him and he told them (ESV): “When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father hasset his seal.” Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”
Monty Williams, an assistant coach for the Oklahoma City Thunder, recently lost his wife in a car crash.
The following video is a eulogy he gave. Hear his words as you think about Jesus as the healer and what is most important.
